A Rare Encounter with the Edge of Creation
This fall in New York, step into a world shaped by silk, sunlight, and spirit. Akihiko IZUKURA—renowned Kyoto-based master of natural dyeing and handwoven silk-dedicated his life to exploring the rhythm of nature through textiles.
His legacy continues in SALVAGE & SELVAGE, a special exhibition and film screening presented by Remnant & Co. (Toyoko Motojima & Mika Ichikawa) remnant-japan.com and NYC-based fiber artist Nobuko Tsuruta nobukoart.com.
We are delighted to announce we, Remnant & Co. and Filmmaker Kazuki Fujimoto, Kyoto-based creativeteam, will be traveling to New York City this September to participate in New York Textile Month 2025,
presenting a cross-disciplinary showcase of Japanese artistry through textiles, calligraphy, film, and hands-on cultural workshops.

Kazuki Fujimoto — Filmmaker, Mont Film
Kazuki Fujimoto is a filmmaker whose lens bridges cultures and landscapes. Drawing on his experience as a nature guide in the vast wilderness of Canada, he has crafted cinematic works that celebrate Japan’s unique traditional crafts and culinary heritage. Through his films, Fujimoto invites audiences to see, touch, and feel the depth of Japanese culture, fostering intercultural dialogue and inspiring the next generation. His latest work,

Silk workshop : Entwining Spirit & Thread
A hands-on opportunity to create your own expressive shawl using mawata (hand-pulled silk floss) and natural dyes. Guided by the “Entwining” technique, participants stretch and layer silk fibers to produce a personal 12 x 35 inch textile. Includes all
